Dedicated legal guidance through every step of your immigration journey
Alina Park is a Senior Attorney at Gian-Grasso & Tomczak Immigration Law Group. Her practice focuses on removal defense before the Immigration Court, appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals, applications for immigration benefits through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and Special Immigrant Juvenile custody matters before Philadelphia Family Court.
Alina joined GTILG as a law clerk in May 2019 while attending law school. Her early experience with the firm gave her a strong foundation in immigration law and a close understanding of the legal and personal challenges her clients face.
Removal defense and immigration appeals
Alina represents individuals in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts administered by the Executive Office for Immigration Review. She carefully evaluates each client’s immigration history, potential forms of relief, and the legal issues that may affect their ability to remain in the United States.
Her removal and appellate practice includes:
When an unfavorable Immigration Court decision warrants further review, Alina helps clients understand their appellate options and develops arguments grounded in the facts, applicable law, and administrative record.
Immigration applications and Special Immigrant Juvenile cases
Alina also represents individuals and families seeking immigration benefits through the USCIS. She guides clients through the application process, helps them organize supporting documentation, and addresses issues that may complicate their cases.
Her work includes:
For children pursuing Special Immigrant Juvenile classification, Alina handles related custody matters before Philadelphia Family Court. She helps families address the state court requirements involved in the process before pursuing immigration relief through USCIS.
Alina approaches every case with careful preparation and clear communication, helping clients understand the requirements, possible obstacles, and next steps.
Federal litigation and appeals experience
While earning her law degree, Alina served as a Student Attorney with Drexel University's Federal Litigation and Appeals Clinic. In this role, she represented immigration clients whose cases had reached the federal and appellate courts, including petitions for habeas corpus involving immigration detention and petitions for mandamus involving unreasonable agency delays.
The experience strengthened her skills in legal research, written advocacy, and the analysis of complex immigration matters. It also gave her valuable insight into how immigration cases can progress beyond the agency level and into the federal court system.
A personal connection to immigration
Immigration is deeply connected to Alina’s own family history. She is the child of a Korean-American immigrant and a British and Vietnamese immigrant, and she holds dual citizenship in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Growing up within a multicultural family shaped her appreciation for the experiences immigrants bring to the United States. It also inspired her commitment to helping individuals and families pursue stability while maintaining the cultural connections that form an important part of their identities.
Professional involvement
Alina remains actively involved in legal organizations serving immigration attorneys and members of the federal bar.
