Before COVID-19, the U.S. was facing a shortage of physicians. Since then, the Trump administration has made it more difficult for medical professionals and scientific experts from other countries to join companies in the U.S.

Today, more than ever, it is important to recognize the fact that roughly 30% of physicians, 20% of pharmacists, and about 23% of home health, psychiatric, and nursing aides are immigrants. “The U.S. health care system depends upon the hard work and knowledge of native-born and foreign-born workers. And it will take every one of them to effectively respond to COVID-19.”
