President Trump has decided to abandon his attempts to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. In an effort to show he has not entirely given up, he has stated that he will instead issue an executive order on federal departments and agencies to provide citizenship numbers from federal databases. Vanita Gupta, the Chief Executive Officer of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, stated: “The government already has access to all of this citizenship data through administrative records, and already studies it, Trump just didn’t want to admit defeat.”
