This article discusses the ramifications of ending medical deferred action by telling the story of a family of undocumented parents and two American citizen children with mental and physical medical disabilities. Through the American health system, the two children, Kevin and Luis, are able to receive the help they need and live with hopes that one day they will be able to achieve their dreams. The father, Marín Álvarez, states, “We do not want to be what the president has always said we are, to be a ‘burden to the country,’ because we are not and do not intend to be.” Representative Ayanna Pressly states, “Deportation in this situation is a death sentence, and we should not mince words about that.”
