Last Friday, Trump expanded the travel ban to Nigeria, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, and Myanmar. Three of these countries have Muslim-majority populations. The proclamation also stated that the U.S. will discontinue issuing “diversity visas” (aka the visa lottery) to nationals of Sudan and Tanzania.
Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, said that Nigeria was “blindsided” by this decision and that the country is currently working to have the travel ban lifted. See here.
