Administration Must Accept New DACA Applications

A federal court in Maryland has ordered the Trump administration to accept new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) applications. After the Supreme Court ruled last month that the Trump administration’s rescission of DACA was unlawful, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) was still rejecting new DACA applications. This ruling explicitly orders that DACA must be fully restored to what it was before the Trump administration rescinded it in September 2017.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said in a statement, “From the Supreme Court down, the courts have made it clear: DACA stands, and now its doors are open to new Dreamers to apply… I urge all Dreamers to enter DACA.”
