The Trump administration’s assault on immigration policy has always been about one thing – hostility to our founding principle that diversity and immigration is the driving force of America’s success. It is an ahistorical view based in prejudice and racism. As such, it is said, but not surprising that the Administration has had white nationalists involved in policy making.
The key now is not to be complacent. The government must still follow the law, and we at GTILG are committed to holding the government accountable to it. More importantly, we are committed to the larger belief that the lifeblood of the United States is our immigrant heritage – and our immigrant present.
