A new report by the American Immigration Council analyzes immigration enforcement trends from 2016 to 2018 through ICE enforcement data. Although President Trump’s executive order (“Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States”) from January 2017 specifically directs agencies to prioritize removing non-citizens who have been convicted of a crime (and other categories), the report states: “over 85 percent of all removals… involved individuals either with no criminal convictions or only non-violent convictions.” See the report for more information:
