The Honorable Judge Honeyman has retired after a 24 year career as an immigration judge. When reflecting on his career, “Honeyman said he had been inspired by a Central American girl who wrote to thank him for granting her asylum. She had graduated from college and was applying to law school ‘so that she could give back to the America that had saved her life.’”
Due to the administration’s new policies that created a “nearly impossible system,” many immigration judges have decided to leave the bench.
Philadelphia’s own, Judge Honeyman, said he decided to leave the bench because of “the escalating attack over the past few years on the very notion that we are a court in any meaningful sense.”
